Legal case files, 1987-1993.

This series contains files created on cases involving or of interest to the governor. Types of material included are briefs, case exhibits, correspondence, affidavits, and any other documents used in the cases such as continuances, etc. The majority of these files pertain to cases involving education or school systems. Also of interest is the case of Charlie Harris and Mose Batie v. the Secretary of State regarding voting laws and The Huntsville Times v. Guy Hunt regarding access to records at Alabama A & M. Other prominent cases are Walker v. State and Chem Waste v. Hunt. The Walker case involved violation of state laws regarding the employment of a felon. Alvin Holmes v. Guy Hunt is the case concerning the legality of flying the Confederate flag over the state capitol building.
